I have just finished S1 of this anime and I really liked it so far. I started liking it more when they started to show the character's backstory like the Ban's episode with Elaine. Also, the paradox of them being called "sins" when the sinners were the sacred knights.
But, I almost dropped the anime before. I think that it really made a lot of people drop the show or not watch it all. I don't get it why they included that.
It would have been a much stronger start and more kids and adults alike would have watched the show. It's just a joke that ends up having a deeper meaning further on. It made me uncomfortable too at first still don't really like it because Meliodas seems like a huge pervert but it's not as bad in context. Manga Spoilers. It's hilarious to me, I think it helps a lot with the lighter side of meliodas.
So some minor spoilers ish, but it grounds Meliodas. They could have done something slightly different but without it Meliodas would be kind of boring imo It's not a paradox, they are rightfully named sins, because they did things to deserve their sins.
You will see later on, just like the next villains are rightfully named too. And first time I have ever heard anyone have a problem with Mel touching, it's not that bad compared to other anime. Fanservice is required to get sales early on for any shounen manga or anime in Japan to even be able to compete with the already established big hitters. If it gets you to sell more who cares lol as long as the story is all fine a bit of fan service is 7 deadly sins fanservice water under the bridge. It's not like Fairy Tail where the only thing you ever saw was fan service accompanied by a shitty story which a 6 year old could have written.
I think that OP's problem isn't really the fan service and more that at the start of the series Meliodas literally just starts groping a complete stranger who's vulnerable she's not as fast nor strong compared to him, while being quite innocent just because he finds her attractive. There's probably a lot more that i left out :. I honestly see it as a gag that's not that serious. Mainly because of how legit his actual love for her is and how real their relationship is.
The groping becomes only a small comical you don't have to find it funny but that's how it's intended part of their complex relationship. To me they could just drop the entire romance part of this manga. It's just so far from reality as anything can be. It's weird and cringy.
Let the downvoting begin :. Uhh isn't the romance like the entire reason why the rest of the story even exists? It's the linchpin of the entire overarching story! I think it gives the manga some actual depth and stops it from being dragon ball. Found the internet! Just a comment on Seven Deadly Sins. Posted by 3 years ago.
